It all started back in October, 2014. We received a call from Kyle inquiring about an engagement session. He told us that he was planning on proposing to his girlfriend. Upon talking with him we learned that he was actually a pilot that flies out of the Capitol City Airport. For those of you who didn't know, Allen is an Air Traffic Controller at that airport. Turns out he was familiar with Kyle's call sign. It was a neat coincidence. Kyle booked us and scheduled a tentative date of March 14 for his proposal.
Fast Forward to December. Kyle calls and says he wants to move the proposal date to January 17, and asked if we would be available for that. Of course, we said yes. The week of the shoot we met Kyle at a local park to discuss where he would like the proposal to take place.
The day of the shoot we headed to the park. I brought along my son to be a decoy. He pretended to pose for me so I could photograph Kyle and Jessica walking through the park to where the proposal would take place. It was a beautiful day. The sun was shinning, and snow was covering the ground. The day was warm; the warmest we had had over the past couple of weeks.
I snapped away as Kyle got down on his knee and held the ring out to Jessica. The joy on her face was beautiful as she said yes. When she realized we were actually there to photograph the engagement, she laughed some more. We gave the newly engaged couple a few moments to recover, then we wandered through the rest of the park and took some more photos of the two of them.
It was a beautiful session, and I am so glad I was there to capture such a special moment.
